Huilan Xu, who has been studying the violin since she was six years old and has more than ten years of playing experience, is pursuing a bachelor's degree at the University of British Columbia. She was awarded the Shanghai Conservatory of Music's National Art Level Examination Centre, Violin Level 10, the highest degree of performance in 2014.
In 2010, she earned first prize for violin concerto at the 8th International Art Ceremony. In 2012, she took second place in the Chinese Music Society's Musician Selection Competition for both the Violin Concerto and the Solo. In 2013, she was awarded second place for violin solo in the Second Golden Hercynian Art Week Series - Youth Art Competition. In 2013, she earned First Prize for Violin in the National Final of the Third Cross-Strait (Xiamen) Youth Art Festival "Strait Cup" Youth Art Competition. She earned the Third Prize for Violin in the Eighth Art Festival Orchestra Competition in Siming District in 2014.
She has extensive experience playing in orchestras, including the Xiamen Youth Symphony Orchestra (2008-2014). She played violin for the Brazosport Symphony Orchestra in the United States from 2016 to 2018 and for Grace Christian Academy in the United States from 2018 to 2019.
