Kathy started learning piano at the age of 5 and began learning clarinet at 12. She
graduated from Shih Chien University with a bachelor’s degree in music performance,
majoring in clarinet and minoring in piano. At university, she received scholarships
every semester and was awarded the Dean's Award. She later earned her master’s in
music performance from National Taiwan Normal University, specializing in clarinet.
In 2018, she was a finalist in the Buffet Crampon Clarinet Competition. She has
performed clarinet recitals at the National Taiwan Normal University Recital Hall and
the National Concert Hall in Taipei.
Since 2021, Kathy has been a clarinet and Basset Horn performer with the Hey Seed
Clarinet Ensemble, performing in venues such as the National Concert Hall in Taipei,
the Taichung National Theater, and the Kaohsiung Weiwuying, gaining extensive
stage experience.
In addition to performing, Kathy is passionate about music education and has years of
teaching experience. She started teaching piano and clarinet during her university
years, working with students ranging from ages 3 to adults, with a particular focus on
early music education. She emphasizes correct posture in piano and clarinet playing
and patiently tailors her teaching methods to fit each student's learning style. Kathy
has also successfully guided many students through the ABRSM piano exams and
organized two student recitals, where she accompanied her piano and clarinet students,
showcasing their musical achievements.
